On The Move -The Inaugural Ceremony

Prayerful greetings from the Eternal City and the Jesus Youth Lenten Adoration Team ( JYLAT) !
The much awaited Intercession Campaign and Lenten Eucharistic Adoration started at 6 pm on 17th February, Ash Wednesday. We had the inaugural Holy Mass celebrated by  Bishop Jean Laffitte, Secretary to Pontifical Council for Families and Bishop Antony Fisher, diocese of Paramatta , Australia, together with other ten priests from various countries. The Holy Mass was celebrated in English with readings and singing in other languages. More than 75 people attended the inaugural Mass which was celebrated in Centro San Lorenzo (International Youth Centre). This is the Church where the World Youth Day Cross is kept when not touring the globe and now we have the World Youth Day Cross in one corner of this small Church and the Eucharistic Adoration on the other corner! It is a wonderful experience being caught between these two great realities and  is also emotionally overwhelming!

Jesus Youth Lenten Adoration in Rome

Our Good Lord has seen the desires of His faithful and He is making the impossible possible these days. Yes... the Jesus Youth family is going to pray in Vatican during the entire lent, 24 hours, ie from Ash Wednesday to Easter ( 47 days to be very precise. )

During the Europe JY National Teams gathering in Assisi last November the leaders were deeply encouraged and convinced by the Holy Spirit to make this lent something very unique and grace filled. After a time of prayer and discussion the JY leaders from Europe decided that time has come where considerable amount of time should be spent before the Lord in Blessed Sacrament, lifting the needs of Holy Mother Church and the JY family. The season of Lent was selected ,keeping in mind both the liturgical calendar and also the Jesus Youth Jubilee calendar.

So after detailed discussion and prayer the following four areas were selected as the focal point of this year’s prayer campaign:

  • For the Priests/ Seminarians and for the Vocation to Priesthood
  • The Re -Evangelisation of Europe
  • Intentions of Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI
  • For the Sanctification of Jesus Youth Movement
